A privately owned groundworks contractor based in Worcestershire is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join them and help deliver complex civils contracts. With a strong focus on healthcare, commercial, mixed-use, leisure and education sites they have grown over the last 15 years to a turn over of £20m +.
The successful candidate will lead and prepare complete commercial and pricing element of tenders and look to add value throughout and seek new opportunities. You will work closely with the on-site team, quantity surveyors and report directly into the Managing Director.
Ensuring all tenders are undertaken and prepared to high standards that the company reputation demands.
Provide a professional approach to all stages of the tender process, including estimation, tender submission and bid negotiation.
Ensure that the tender accurately reflects the true cost of labour, plant, materials and subcontractors, for both direct and indirect costs.
Present each tender for review to the Director in sufficient detail to demonstrate confidence in the bid and gain approval to submit the bid.
Attend site visits and tender meetings to present the company and liaise with our clients.
Undertake tender handover meetings with Quantity Surveyor and production team, imparting knowledge gained through the tender process to senior contract management staff.
The Senior Estimator must have a minimum of 5 years experience with a background in estimating and quantity surveying at a groundworks company or main contractor. You must have in-depth knowledge of all civils projects, be capable of winning new work and also maintaining relationships with existing clients. The candidate should be IT literate and be comfortable working with Excel.
